If you know your AA t-shirt size, then they should fi t properly. If you are not sure, you can use this handy American Apparel size chart. Why do you use water based inks? We use water based inks because we love the thin feel and because we care about the environment. Water based inks are made to last and don’t pollute our surroundings. How does screenprinting work? The screen printing process can be complicated, but we can sum it up in four steps: First, a screen is coated with light-sensitive emulsion. Second, each color of the artwork is printed out and transferred to the emulsion-covered screen. The screen is exposed to a bright light, which hardens the screen, except for the area blocked by the image. This area is then washed out so that the screen is now a ‘stencil’. Each color of the graphic requires its own screen. Third, the screens are fastened to a carousel. The shirts are placed on a stationary pallet. The screens are lowered and its corresponding color is printed on the shirt. Fourth, after the print, the ink is heated to cure it, so it won’t come off in the wash. We are in the process of producing a series of short videos, demonstrating the screenprinting process. Check here from future updates! What’s the difference between heat-transfers and screen prints? There’s a world of difference. Heat transfers (or in old school lingo, “Iron Ons”) are basically big stickers on your t-shirt, and after a few washes, they begin to peel and fall off. Although they do have great colors and detail, they start looking pretty bad when they start to wear out. Because screnprinting actually puts the ink in the fi bers or the cloth, screen prints are more durable and look better longer. How fast can you get my shirts to me?
